FREEDOM BOUND SERIES SUMMARY:
Freedom Bound is a series of stories that explores the various degrees of the Dominant/submissive relationship, especially as it relates to the intense emotional experience of consensual bondage. The storyline in each story are related in some way, albeit sometimes distantly, but the experiences of the characters will vary widely based on their personal acceptance of their situations and individual D/s qualities. Largely, these stories are told from the Submissive point of view, but there will be surprising revelations for these Doms as well, as they begin to unlock the deeper connection that is possible in this type of exploration.
Although there is quite a bit of hot sex on these pages, there also is a lot of meaningful, thought-provoking content. Whether you are experienced in the lifestyle or simply curious, I believe you'll find this intense exploration into the psychological aspects of the journey through surrendering control, and into sub-space and Dom-space is compelling. Writers of merely naughty fiction challenge you to pick their books up; I challenge you to put these books down.
I thought you might like a glimpse into the crazy mind and life of the author of those books you’ve (hopefully) read and come to enjoy. I find it a lot easier to write about fictional characters than myself, but I’ll give it a go.
|I have lived the majority of my life in the Midwestern United States. Missouri, to be more precise, in both large cities across the state. However, I consider myself a Texan. It's where I call home and where I'll live the remainder of my life. Don't hate me for it. I love the electricity of the big city (New York, especially) but prefer to live under a big sky, just outside a metropolitan area. |
I am a wife and also the mother and stepmother of two teenage boys. The root of my insanity should be more readily apparent to you now. I have three dogs and two horses and spend much of my free time showing in the QH breed circuit.
It's sort of a fluke that I'm into writing. My degree is in psychology with a speech communication minor, but I've been working in the IT industry for more than 20 years. I can't recall ever writing anything longer than 20 pages, double-spaced, before two years ago.
It started one day when I sat at my desk to write myself a short erotica story that I thought might prove to be entertaining later. I was experiencing this bout of hormonal imbalance that was causing me a great deal of um, anxiety. Anyway, about twelve hours and nine chapters later, I finally emerged from the desk. I thought it was a complete accident; a one-time occurrence. That is, until I woke up the next day and put in another fourteen hours at the keyboard.
My first story led to another, and another, until finally, after finishing four full-length books, I was sure that this series was complete. I called that group of stories The Perspectives Series. Having become attached to the characters like they were my real-life friends, I started yet another book in a group that I called The Legacy Series. This group of stories is centered around the children of the previous series and is written more for a teen/young adult audience.
About three quarters of the way through the second piece in The Legacy Series, I started writing the book that I ended up targeting as my first actual published work: Protégée.
So, Dakota Lynn is back to the hotter stuff. I created a separate pseudonym for my teen/young adult works and decided that my primary focus and talent lies in the sub-genre of erotic romance.
It should come as no surprise to discover that Protégée also will be a part of a series of related books. I have not connected these books so closely to one another that you must read them in a specific order. They are completely separate stories with a common theme, and, at times, familiar characters.
All of my works are in various stages of completion, from first drafts to re-writes, through final edits, and onto publishing and marketing. If you're not familiar with this industry, let me tell you, there's a lot more to getting a book out there than you think. Even with eBooks and the acceptance of self-published works, there is so much effort behind presenting a high-quality product. All of my books are professionally edited to mask the fact that I'm not an expert journalist. I am, however, a consummate storyteller, and that's why you read books in the first place, for the story.
If you haven't checked out my books, sample an excerpt or two from this Web site. My writing tends to appeal to the more intelligent audience and often delves into a deep examination of the human psyche. I believe that much of the human experience is global, which makes it interesting to read about. I also think we like to walk away from reading a book having learned at least one thing. I hope you learn at least two things from each of my writings, but I've always been an overachiever.
An untimely end to a long, stable relationship leaves Amelia Grant at a crossroads. Should she
try to reassemble her life much as it had been for the past 20 years or try something completely
new? As the Internet becomes her lifeline to the outside world, she finds herself exploring
lifestyles she never knew existed.
Dirk Gregory has been a successful Sub/Slave trainer and BDSM club owner for nearly his entire
adult life. Immersing himself in his work, he has completely denied himself any chance of a
romantic relationship. He can’t even bring himself to take a vacation, so when his friend Bella
asks him to take on a complete novice and introduce her to the BDSM lifestyle during a break in
his schedule, he obliges.
The immediate attraction between these two is undeniable to the point of distraction. As they
each struggle to stay on task through the training program Dirk has crafted, they fall helplessly
deeper into a relationship: A bond that is based on a rich understanding of one another, trust and
mutual respect. But that doesn’t improve their situation. They can’t change who they are, and
finally, they have to face reality and forge ahead in pursuit of the common goal: Find Amelia a
Publisher’s Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language and situations that

There isn’t an apparent way to add acknowledgments in an eBook, so I thought I would post mine here. This is my way of thanking the friends that have helped me through this arduous process of book publishing.
- First and foremost, I’d like to thank Todd. He is the one who makes me appear like a better writer than I actually am. He not only edits my books, but he also creates my book covers and shot all the photographs on this website. Talented individual.
- Secondly, my primary test reader, Chris deserves special thanks. Every page I’ve written has been shoved in front of this guy until he had no choice but become an adoring fan. When I was absolutely certain no one would be interested in the story, he convinced me otherwise. It was his reaction to Protégée that gave me the courage to pursue publication. And thanks for being my sounding board. Everyone needs someone to bounce ideas off of.
- Also, thanks to Angie for being my second reader and Courtney for being my first ‘non-friend’ to read and evaluate my work. I have more test readers, and I’m thankful to all of them, but it has been the dedication and enthusiasm of these key individuals that prompted me to continue writing and so they deserve special attention.
- Thanks to Billy for encouraging me to write in those early days and for giving me the courage to write whatever I damn well pleased instead of what I thought people wanted to read. The books are better for it; more real, and from the heart.
- Finally, thanks to my husband, son and stepson for giving me plenty of space and time during the authoring process. I existed in my own head for much of that time. Also, really, thanks for bringing me food and water so I wouldn’t die.

I realize that I haven't mentioned anything of the classics: Story of O, Sleeping Beauty Series, Carrie's Story. These volumes are simply required reading. They are often considered a frame of reference for comparing other works. Read them, if for no other reason, to gain an understanding of what everyone else is talking about when they mention them.
